About me

Karen Landuyt and Cécile Godijns, two belgians with the same dream met and saw a great opportunity to realise their passion: Building a business in Belgian Chocolates!

After 2 years of a partnership business, Karen left the company to pursue a career as chocolatier in Belgium.

Cecile

Cécile Godijns immigrated to Australia in 2005 with her family and never stopped dreaming about taking her passion of chocolate to her new home land.

Since the idea of the company was born, both have done extensive training and, to their family and friends delight, lots of testing new recipes.

Cécile attended the Food Handling and Hygiene Training Course at the Caboolture Shire Council in 2007 and continue to do courses in Australia and overseas to develop the company in all aspects. Cécile still beliefs in her dream and is keen to keep on trying new recipes as a sole trader.

The name Criollo comes from one of the three different species of cacao trees, each with their own particular characteristics.

Criollo is also known as the prince among cacao trees. The Criollo tree produces pods with a very thin peel. The cacao itself has a very pale colour and a unique refined aroma.
